Review #12 | Tangorin | Learn Japanese For Free

This week's review is for the Tangorin Website. I would recommend it for all levels of learner. The website covers areas like a Dictionary, JLPT, Jouyou and Jinmeiyou levels.

NOTE

JLPT Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Jouyou 2000 base words used to learn Japanese

Jinmeiyou Names and so on

What

Tangorin is a website with a search engine like function. The website could be utilised for a number of uses, but is pretty much a compendium of example sentences which search through the Tatoeba commons database. This is under the 'Dictionary' Tab.

The 'Vocabulary' Tab gives the option to go through the JLPT Jouyou and Jinmeiyou options. Options like the JLPT tab gives you a list of vocabulary for example which are useful, but I will exploring the next review on this matter so it should be noted that I dont particularly know if I can wholly recommend the sole usage of this feature as stand alone yet.

All of these examples, which include whole sentences, can be exported.

Where

Available at https://tangorin.com/sentences.

Who

Tatoeba content is licensed under Creative Commons 2.0, and belongs to Trang Ho.

Jonathan Waller content belongs to Jonathan Waller.

KanjiVG project belongs to Ulrich Apel.

kradfile-u belongs to Micheal Raine, contributions by Breen and Jim Rose.

Tanaka Corpus, JMDict, JMnedict and KanjiDIC2 belongs to EDRDG project, with contributions from Jim Breen.

Tangorin is the work of Gregory Bober, and is now developed by Archie Preston

MeCab is licensed under the Free Software Foundation 2007 GNU license.

Wanakana belongs to WaniKani and Tofugu under the Open Source Initative MIT license.

When

Available 24/7, but requires internet.

Why

I recommend Tangorin as a study guide and lookup tool useful for example sentences. As a searchable  Dictionary which draws from a wide array of the open access and open source materials it is pretty decent as far as I, random person on the internet, can tell.

You can also get adverts in Japanese, so bonasu.
