RTK search engine

Hochanh is a website search engine for RTK. Its for all levels and comes in handy for searching through the garbled mess that is the original's indexes with all the different published versions.

Chinese Botanical Treastise chapter on reptiles (1700, PD) Anonymous Dijon Muncipal Library

What

Hochanh is an online search engine. You can type in and click through the usual, the kanji atop, then stroke order might show up below. You can play your way through it again by pressing X and triangle. It then gives you readings (ON/KUN) and then gives Kohii stories below to remember the primitives.

They also could track your data.

Where

  https://hochanh.github.io/rtk/

https://hochanh.github.io/

Who

The creators of Kanji alive is:

Dunno as the original is not listed and instead has decided to not list their names.

These all have many, many people involved in these projects whom I would love to highlight if they wish to be.

When

Available online.

Why

Its there, is nicely simplistic and has a lot of easy primitive stories relevant to remembering Kanji (im personally using Kanji Code and Noriko Williams indexes).

Pitfalls* of Japanese learning or the Hustle

*That is a animal crossing reference.

This is a page for the people who go 'I am going to learn Japanese'. Enter at your own peril. Its fun once you actually do get to the memes and the manga side though, and from thereon out, you have access to a whole new world of non-English-language-ness. I am nuts about it all though so take the advice as you see fit.

I created this project becuase I genuinely understand that language is one of those things you need. Please remember this and share in the Language Commons with others instead of coming to me later and going 'I never needed help'. Do that and I find you quite boring, mediocre and sad. Share commoner, for you are no peasant.

When it comes to learning the language of never ending 'grammar points', here are the main pitfalls you will encounter dear sign traveller:

Grammar of languages when switching to English (c.2017, Education) Langwid
Also known as word order typology/syntax

How to read Kanji graphic (2026, PD) LJ43 project

This has been an evil PSA about the many things and pitfalls you will come across in your learning challenges on the road to Japanese fluency, whatever that means 4 u. I needed a rant page also.

You may get to this point and go, that's not too bad. These are the pitfalls, the rest of the language awaits. If you are cowering in your boots, you learned English or whatever translated language you are reading/hearing this in at some point, so you can do this one too.
